Yes, in women as you age you produce less estrogen and more testosterone. That is what gives you the increased facial hair. It's also what leads to menopause later in life.

When I worked as a waiter I would always notice elderly ladies with a few randomly placed really long hairs growing around those areas. Silly.

Yes, your estrogen level decreases as you approach menopause...be ready for lots of other fun stuff, from one who's been there!

well... several things come to mind. but this is pretty much and indicator of a change in your hormones, and/or hormone levels. Also this can be common if there is a thyroid condition. ask your doctor about it.

welcome to the world of pre menopause!!!!! LOL I have been going through this for several years now. It's something we start going through about this age, sometimes earlier, sometimes later, and we get more testosterone in our bodies. Just get the Nads or shave it off. It's a little irritating but we all go through it at this time in our lives. Just some of us keep it more hush hush than others! LOL If it bothers you talk to your ob/gyn about it and she can give you hormones to help.

My mom is 50 and has that issue...I guess it is something for us all to "look forward to."

It's quite a normal phenomenon.I love to watch such a face .Yes, if you don't, you may get rid of it by doing some facial in a parlor.

thats quite common for middle age women. if it's only light hair that doesn't really bother you then leave it alone, if you remove it it'll only grow back worse. but if it really bothers you buy some facial hair removing cream.

When this happened to me, I thought "What the heck???" Then, when I told my Mom she laughed and said, "Oops, I forgot to tell you about the '40's"....I asked what she did and she said she started plucking but then decided to just use her leg razor on her chin when she showered (not shave every day...just once every three days or so).

So, that's what I did too. Oh, I asked her if there were any other things I should know and she said I may become allergic to certain things I wasn't before (like flowers or shrimp) and break out because my hormones are changing. Lovely.

She ALSO said that my freckles would soon begin to look like age spots...and to use some Oil of Olay. I didn't even ask about the '50's...and menopause this is enough depressing news for one decade. Ha.

No ...facial hair is not normal as we age...you can get hormonal treatments that it sounds like you need. I suggest natural herbal treatments. Go to a health food store and ask. Anyone who can't help you, then go to another store...ask the owner. The hormones given by doctors CAN cause cancer, but some newer ones don't...just ask a lot of questions and be careful. I'm a woman of over 40 and no extra facial hair. I understand from family members that it's caused by a lack of hormones or too much testosterone, which can be balanced out with hormonal treatments.
